Destin, Florida – posted on March 7, 2016

Up to now, my frame of reference for beaches has been Port Aransas, Padre Island, and Galveston – all Texas beaches.  Those beaches are covered in sea weed and the pretty but poisonous jellyfish, dirty beige sand that sticks to your skin like glue, and water that can be described as mirky at best.

Thats all I knew, so I thought all beaches, at least all of the beaches along the Gulf of Mexico, were like Port A, Padre, and Galveston.  That is until today.

I’m standing on the beach of Destin, Florida enjoying brilliant white sand with absolutely no sea weed or jelly fish.  In fact the sand is like walking on powered sugar.  And this is not called The Emerald Coast for no reason:  the water here is truly emerald green and as clear as swimming pool water.  Beautiful, absolutely beautiful!

Now, I know what I’ve been missing.  I thought what I had seen was the best it could be, but I was wrong – there was so much more just on the other side of the gulf.  Revelation 21 tells us that there will come a time when we will see a new heaven and a new earth.  I rather think this is God saying to us, “You ain’t seen nothing yet!”  What we see here on this earth is beautiful without a doubt.  What we see here on this earth is creative, and thrilling, and absolutely awesome.  BUT, there is something better to come.

So, enjoy the beauty of this earth but yearn earnestly for the new heaven and the new earth.  Because, we ain’t seen nothing yet!
